What is FUTURE SPELLS?

It is a 30-minute live, intimate encounter for five people somewhere between performance, ritual, and game.

You step into a space filled with words from different languages and cultures. You’re invited to notice which ones pull you closer, which ones feel strange, and which ones you wish existed in your own language.

By the end, you’ll have left a small “spell” for the future — and taken something unexpected for yourself.

Why does it matter?

We’re living in a moment where our languages — and the worlds they carry — are disappearing faster than we can imagine.

7000+ languages exist today, but half will vanish by 2100. Every time a language fades, we lose an entire archive of emotions, memories, rituals, and ways of seeing the world. Humanity becomes cognitively less diverse.

This is like losing biodiversity — but in the mind.

1.5 billion people speak English as a second language — but native English speakers rarely learn another.

Only 3% of books published in English are translations. Despite being the global lingua franca, English readers access only a tiny, curated slice of global thought. 97% of the world’s ideas never make it into the English imagination.

And 97% of AI training data is in English.The technologies shaping our future inherit one cultural lens, one vocabulary, one emotional range, even while serving a multicultural world.
